Still in Business

Yesterday, I blessed a squirrel with pieces of my egg, ham and cheese croissant from Granny's Donuts (316 N Western Ave, San Pedro, CA 90732). He was perched on the wall staring down at me. I'm sure other people in the past thought it was cute to feed him, hence his lingering and comfort with grabbing the bits from my hand. I was happy to share with him before parting off to a McDonald's down the street for an apple pie.

I have a homegirl in Austria who I exchange letters with on an app called Slowly. She recently sent me a photo of their apple pie (Apfeltasche) box, which inspired me to check out what ours look like nowadays, since I never really go to Mickey Dee's. It's interesting to see designs from different regions.

I'm much more fond of the Austrian pie box. Our version seems really bland in comparison. Since they're riding Starbucks dick with this McCafe thing, I get why the font would need to be brown which naturally goes with yellow and white, but even a white apple outlined with that green would've looked better than this lattice pie emblem, I feel. In the end, however, out of the many samples that were created this pattern apparently was the best. As Grandpa Burt would say "You don't have to like it, but you have to accept it"

While I was on my way over to get this apple treat I ran into someone rocking a Mortal Wound hoodie which is the homie Peter's death metal band. They went on their first European tour last year in September and it couldn't be more sick to see how far they've come.

They will be playing at Supply and Demand (2500 E Anaheim St, Long Beach, CA 90804, USA) on June 23, 2023 with Skeletal Remains, Sakrificer, Apparition and Guillatine, presented by Charged Noise -
21 and over, Doors are at 7:00PM.

If I can get a night off from the kitchen I'll make it to that show.

Well, it feels nice to mark that we're still in business with this quick little memo. There lots to do, many people to see and plenty of stories to tell in between working a "regular job" - I must retire for the moment but I we'll catch up soon.
Until next time my friends,
         Your homie,

Room 214

There was one night where singer/composer/model Brooke Jessen, AKA, B the Flowers, and I spontaneously rented a cheap motel room in La Puente, Ca. We we're either going to record some music or shoot photographs, depending on whatever idea hit first. Obviously, we were struck with going into a photo session, joined also by our mutual friend Daniel Casillas. It was one of the most memorable shoots I participated in.  Check out Brooke on Instagram -  https://www.instagram.com/btheflowers/ Listen to Brooke on Spotify -  https://open.spotify.com/artist/0OIAznvDAzLn6VkANn7LXZ Say "Hello" to Daniel on Instagram -  https://www.instagram.com/daniel_casillas33/

[Profile] VeRah

If I could make it over to Uruguay and reach the historical capital of Montevideo, I’d love to catch a performance by underground synth artist VeRa. Born Veronica Ramos in 1983, the native Montevidean artist studied with a focus on  piano, composition and soundtrack creation at the National School of Film Experimentation and Realization. As a multi-instrumental artist, she worked with several music groups before producing her first solo album “A Void Filled with Sound” in 2014 and has since issued six releases, “The Awakening” 2020, “Crisalida/Ocaso” 2021 and "The Fall"  in May 2022 followed by her third album "El Silencio Es Musica" July, of the same year. Her latest single “Judgment” appeared in January 2023. VeRa has been doing shows in her hometown and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She balances teaching piano professionally and producing new material.  After finding her tracks “Carmilla Stoned” and “Follow the Voice” on Beatport, I fell right into her expressi

Old Photos

We all start out somewhere, right? I'm prompted to write this after finding an old disk with some of my early photographs on it. Back in 2010, I was learning, and going for it. It has to be remembered that even the greatest went through a formative period and had to develop into who they'd eventually become. Not to say I'm one of the greatest, that's for the crowd to decide. None the less, regardless of how many accolades I've received or achievements I've earned, like being presented in multiple international galleries, I can still always get better and go further, and remain humble..
